Friends of County Animal Shelter
(FOCAS): FOCAS is another wonderful organization helping the animals of San Diego County. They are a non-profit group formed to help the lost and abandoned animals that end up in the County's three shelters. FOCAS takes animals out of these public shelters and places them in foster care until a suitable, loving "forever home" can be found. They also help with shelter improvements and public projects that help the animals of San Diego.
Project Wildlife Project Wildlife cares for sick, injured or abandoned wildlife of Southern California. Animals in need are taken in by volunteers at their homes or cared for at a Project Wildlife care center. Once animals are taken care of and are back to full health they are released back into their native habitats.
House Rabbit Society
The House Rabbit Society is an all-volunteer,
non-profit organization dedicated to rabbit
rescue and owner education. Their mission
includes fostering and placing unwanted and
abandoned rabbits, as well as educating the
public on rabbit care and spaying/neutering
of rabbits. Through these programs, they seek
to reduce the number of unwanted rabbits --
and to improve bunnies' lives -- by helping
people better understand these often misunderstood
companion animals..
